Retro Futuristic Art

Dawn of a New Day (30 x 20", Glossy or Matte Finish) $77.50

"Dawn of a New Day" is a panoramic 3D rendering of a retro-futuristic scene - it's set in a hangar (or garage) in the Future That Never Was.

Dieselpunk ArtworkLike any garage, it's cluttered with the bits and pieces and odds and ends that haven't quite made the cut of daily life - along with an assortment of tools, appliances, and whatnot. There are some interesting bits stored away in there.

Rusty the Robot and his human companion are taking a brief look through the morning paper over a cup of coffee. Any minute now that Buck Rogers-style retro rocket is likely to get warmed up and taken out for a spin.

The title is taken from a posthumous Gershwin collaboration that was used as a theme song for the 1939 New York World's Fair - the Fair whose theme was "The World of Tomorrow".

Retro Futurist DesignI spent quite a long time on this image and its characters, who've shown up in other renderings as time's gone on. The picture itself started as a 3D rendering but I did some overpainting in Photoshop to refine and finish it.

The print is a print-on-demand reproduction of my digital painting. Its resolution is 300 DPI at a full size of 30 by 20 inches. There's a narrow border on the sides all around the image area. You can frame the print as is or matte it, if you like, to a different shape.

About the Prints
T
hese prints are made to order by deviantPrints, using an archival quality photographic process on Fujifilm Crystal Archive paper. They're rated to last over 100 years without fading - though no prints should be left where they'll be baked by direct sunlight. The color fidelity, clarity and paper weight of these prints is far superior to the poster-quality reproductions I also sell here. They're pretty much the bee's knees.

You can order a print in either glossy or matte finish. This is mainly a matter of personal taste, but I do think that the glossy prints give you a sharper representation of the original digital image.

When you add one of these archival prints to your prints shopping cart it will pop up in a new window. You can keep browsing through these pages and add new items as you go. The shopping cart window will update as you add more items. When you're ready to check out, do so in the cart window and you'll be taken through the ordering process.

Important Note
These archival quality prints are supplied by a different vendor than my other merchandise, and use a separate shopping cart. You cannot place a single order for both archival prints and, for example, coffee mugs.

Archival prints will ship separately from other items.

Copyright 2002 - 2009, Bradley W. Schenck. Yep. That's a person, not a vast multinational corporation trying to maintain control over whatever you've downloaded to your iPod. Just a guy who'd rather do this than wash dishes for a living. So be nice, huh? If you like the art, send your friends here - don't redistribute the work, remix it, or - to speak perfectly plainly - rip it off. It's not just that it's illegal. It's also really bad manners. And I know your mother raised you better than that.
