Deep below Doctor Rognvald's tower on the slopes of an Icelandic volcano, his henchman Zeno labors day and night in a room full of whirling, pounding, thundering devices whose purpose is perhaps as murky and ill-defined as are most of Zeno's higher brain functions.

It's not that he isn't bright. Although, come to think of it, he isn't. Zeno does have a highly developed intelligence whose focus is just really, really narrow. We're talking really narrow, here.

Not that he's narrow minded in the sense you're thinking of. But if you're not a gauge, a lever, a dial, a button, a piston, or a suspiciously hissing and quite dangerous valve, it's just not likely that Zeno will even know you're in the room.
