 Andy
Murdock's "Lots of Robots"
LOR is an animated work in progress
that Andy Murdock has been building for the last few years
in the time that's left over from his freelance work in animation
and music. There have been two releases of the film as it's
grown, and each is available from his own web site on DVD.
Andy's
an amazing fellow. You might have seen the short film "Rocket
Pants" that he did while he was working for Mondo Media,
or any one of a whole lot of other projects he's been involved
with.
The
LOR DVDs feature tutorial movies and sample scene files for
3dS Max users, too - but here, you'll find his posters, shirts,
coffee mugs, and other merchandise showing scenes and characters
from his film. This is great stuff!

Brian
Taylor's "Rustboy"
Rustboy
is another independent animated film, this time the work of
Brian Taylor. The Rustboy web site features clips from the
work in progress and some wonderful tips on how Taylor achieved
some of the effects in the animation. He's a great example
of someone figuring out simple and elegant solutions to problems
that would usually involve plugins, complex systems, and way
too much math for my comfort.
Here
you'll find a selection of posters, shirts and other merchandise
with still frames from the film and some special merchandise
designs for "Rustboy".

Ownership of our own work is the most valuable thing that
artists own. It's what keeps us from washing dishes for a
living. Usually.
